在芝加哥，罗伊遇见了当时非常有名的击球手帕里斯，两人之间展开了一场较量，罗伊获得了最终的胜利。然而好景不长，一场意外的枪击让罗伊渐渐远离了赛场，并最终成为了一支垃圾球队中的一员。当女友爱丽丝带着他们的儿子再度回到罗伊身旁时，罗伊找到了重振旗鼓的动力。
